LaMont Brothers Tree Service

This small company has been contracted to run two of the state's most efficient ash disposal facilities, Waterford and Whitmore Lake. They used their grant funding to purchase a portable band saw. Using this new equipment, they have been able to convert ~30% of the waste wood they receive into value-added products (including railroad ties, grade lumber, and pallet lumber). Since this material is not ground, the value-added production also represents a 30% reduction in disposal costs for the state. They have established ongoing contracts with buyers in stable markets to purchase all of their products. Additionally, LaMont Brothers are beginning to develop a composting operation in order to have a full-spectrum resource recovery facility. The success of their business has allowed the company size to nearly double and has provided several new jobs to the region.
